East Syracuse village and fire department representatives asked the DeWitt Town Board Monday to approve an additional $500,000 a year to pay for a new fire station.
East Syracuse Mayor Lorene McCoy Dadey said a new station is sorely needed to replace the antiquated and cramped 40-year-old Fire Station II on Route 298. East Syracuse wants to build a new station in the Sanders Creek area on the other side of the road.
The $500,000 request was in addition to the $900,000 the village asked for as payment in 2005 to provide fire protection in northern DeWitt. The village received $900,000 this year from taxpayers in northern DeWitt, ...
