ASKING FOR IT? ... Research from the Netherlands points out how infants' crying can lead to parental abuse. It also serves as a reminder that such findings, while helpful in unearthing the dynamics of child abuse, can also be used (rather unhelpfully) to blame the victims, a pair of researchers at Loma Linda University's Children's Hospital have responded. Indeed, perpetrators of domestic violence do this all the time--citing victim behavior as "causing" their abuse.
This is why research on domestic violence rarely focuses on victim behavior, but on other circumstances that put the responsibility on the abuser, the Loma Linda analysts said. Similarly, child sexual abusers ...
