Although HUD revises rents, advocates are still worried.(Department of Housing and Urban Development, Fair Market Rents )

In a continuation of the on-again, off-again cycle that has characterized low-income housing this year, the federal government this month published new Fair Market Rents (FMRs) that answer some of the concerns raised by advocates but are still considered somewhat flawed.

FMRs became the subject of intense criticism when the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proposed new standards in August that were a radical departure from those used in years past.
