Charlie's Angels and Starsky & Hutch scoring at the box office, Hollywood is trawling the vaults in search of more TV classics ripe for a makeover.

Colin Farrell is in the running to star in a cinema version of Miami Vice, the cult Eighties TV show that followed the lives of two streetwise detectives, Sonny Crockett (Farrell) and his partner, Tubbs, to be played by Collateral's Jamie Foxx. Tubbs is an ex New York police officer in search of his brother's killer, and together they take on Miami's drug gangs.

Also on the way are remakes of Dallas, and a long-awaited updating of The A-Team. But fans ...
