Think globally, act locally is the European Chemical Industry Council's (CEFIC) message to its member associations and companies. CEFIC technical director Louis Jourdan explains: "There is still a divergence of cultures across Europe, and Responsible Care needs to fit in with local tradition."
He illustrates that point with reference to a multinational like Dow Chemical, which has a core program that reflects its corporate culture, but its actions are geared to local circumstances.
