Almost a full two years after the concept was first presented to Taiwan's chemical industry by former Environmental Protection Administrator Eugene Chien, a comprehensive Responsible Care program has, at last, been drafted and its implementation appears well under way.
Drawing liberally from Responsible Care programs adopted earlier in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Australia, Taiwan's program is largely the result of efforts of a team headed by Shuh Woei Yu of National Central University's (Chungli) department of chemical engineering.
