Oct. 30--Keeping warm this winter looks like it's going to cost a lot more than it did last year.

Natural gas prices for November, the month when Minnesotans begin reaching for the thermostat, are going to be as much as 35 percent higher than a year ago, the Minnesota Commerce Department said Friday.

The agency estimates that a typical residential gas customer will pay about $127 for fuel next month compared with $96.30 last November.

The increase comes atop a 10 percent hike last month and pushes gas prices into the range of those seen in the winter of 2000-01, when fuel prices hit record highs.
