Four games into the 1994 Oregon football season, senior cornerback Herman O'Berry hurt his left knee, the latest of a string of injuries that had plagued his career, having been preceded by a broken ankle his junior year and torn meniscus in his right knee the following spring.

Vividly, O'Berry remembers his conversation with coach Rich Brooks.
