Nov. 4--SANTA FE, N.M. -- A Santa Fe city councilor who is concerned about high-priced housing downtown and on Santa Fe's East Side is proposing an amendment to the city's land use code intended to encourage affordable housing when residential lots are split up for more construction.
Opponents of Councilor Karen Heldmeyer's measure are contending that she is essentially trying to roadblock downtown and East Side infill development, under the guise of affordable housing.
