When it comes to set design, television is often considered to be theatre's poor cousin. In theatre, a set is the foundation for the building blocks of the audience's imagination. Television, by contrast, is perceived as a less subtle art. But it's a misconception that there are fewer outlets for creativity. From children's TV to light entertainment, there are real opportunities for designers end many creative challenges.
The BBC launches its flagship children's programme Planet Cook this week. For producer, Platinum Films chief executive Nigel Stone, creative, stimulating sets such as Planet Cook's are vital, particularly in children's programming.
