Continue getting mammograms, but don't ignore a constant cough.

This is a health message that women shouldn't ignore, says Dr. Joan Schiller, a medical oncologist at University Hospital.

"Lung cancer kills more women in this country each year than breast cancer," she says. "In fact, lung cancer kills more women than breast, uterine and cervical cancer combined!"

A common misperception is that lung cancer is a man's disease, she adds. This may have been true 20 years ago, but women nowadays get lung cancer at a rate that almost equals men.
