Nov. 5--TOKYO -- Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. said Friday its consolidated sales and net profit for the six-month period to Sept. 30 reached first-half record highs on the strength of a solid performance by its core prescription drug business.
Group net profit surged 16.1 percent from a year earlier to 163.24 billion yen in the six months through September, up from the previous record of 140.55 billion yen set in the first half of the 2003 business year.
Net profit per share came to 184.40 yen, compared with 158.76 yen a year before.
Sales of prescription drugs increased 4.5 percent to 19.6 billion yen due to brisk demand in Japanese and European ...
