A new generation of genetically engineered insect baculoviruses could be the answer to many of the problems now associated with chemical insecticides
Today's pesticide market is dominated by synthetic chemicals. Their use in agriculture is one reason that fewer people can now produce more food at less cost than ever before. Unfortunately, there are now several problems associated with the use of chemical insecticides. These include contamination of food by chemical residues, ground water pollution, the development of insecticide resistance by target insects, and the elimination of non-target species, including beneficials such as predators and parasites.
