A ticket to see the sharks at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago can set you back $23. Visiting the Experience Music Project, a music museum in Seattle, together with its new science fiction center, costs $26.95. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland has raised its admission to $20.
But when the Museum of Modern Art announced that it would charge a $20 admission to its newly expanded midtown headquarters when it reopens later this month, the media was outraged, claiming it was now the most expensive museum in the country, if not the world.
