ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. - Travelers into history often follow the presidential trail to George Washington's Virginia, including Mount Vernon. Generations also have retraced Abraham Lincoln's famed Indiana and Illinois travels.
But there is a lesser-known historical excursion related to the 16th president - tracing Lincoln's boyhood roots in Northern Kentucky.
A good place to learn about Lincoln's formative first eight years is the Elizabethtown Tourism & Convention Bureau here, 44 miles south of Louisville and 131 miles north of Nashville.
