MAKATI CITY You can be surrounded by people with sore eyes and not get infected. So stop worrying and start washing your hands instead. Yes, you read that right.
According to eye experts at the Asian Eye Institute (AEI), sore eyes are not transmitted by air. That means the virus or bacteria that cause sore eyes are not passed on from one person to another just by looking at him or her or staying near one.
So if you really do not want to contract sore eyes, which is transmitted by touch, wash your hands with soap before you touch your eyes.
But what if youre already infected? The first and wisest thing to do is consult an ophtalmologist ...
