Conservatives set out environmental priorities.(UK News)

CONSERVATIVE PARTY LEADER, Michael Howard, has set out a series of environmental priorities for a future Conservative government. In a keynote speech to the Green Alliance, Mr Howard, who was Secretary of State for the Environment at the time of the Rio Summit, said that it was 'essential' to involve the US if there was to be effective international action to fight climate change. He said that he would work to persuade the US to 'join the battle' and would also do more to support the development of a global market in emissions trading, to ensure that there 'was a consistent carbon value across all participants.'
