OUTGOING ENVIRONMENT COMMISSIONER, Margot Wallstrom, has expressed her disappointment that only one out of the 15 original Member States, Greece, succeeded in meeting the deadline for transposing the Directive on waste from electrical and electronic equipment into national law. Mrs Wallstrom said that the EU was currently producing around 14kg of electrical waste per head annually and measures needed to be put in place to ensure that dangerous wastes were minimised.
