An attorney for Lelia M. Wood-Smith last week criticized Hickory Pine Associates for releasing portions of secretly recorded transcripts of conversations involving Wood-Smith and a private detective hired by Hickory Pine to pose as a "rogue" developer.

"If you had good transcripts, would you only put in only excerpts?" asked Ben Friedman, an attorney for Wood-Smith, a special counsel for the Purchase Environmental Protective Association.

Friedman said transcripts of tape recordings made by David Paris, the "rogue" developer, of Wood-Smith were "taken out of context."
