NORFOLK - Jim Vandermeer shouldn't be a Norfolk Admiral. Eric Nickulas, Travis Moen and Anton Babchuk probably shouldn't be, either. Their presence certainly strengthens the Admirals as they host Hershey tonight to open their fifth American Hockey League season, but it also heralds strange times for the 69-year-old circuit.
Were this a normal hockey season, Vandermeer would be skating a regular shift for the parent Chicago Blackhawks, and a number of his current teammates would be in the mix to earn a big league roster slot. But NHL owners have locked out their players in ...
