WHERE IS CAROL BURNETT when we really need her?
Burnett's comedy and variety show anchored the CBS Saturday night lineup for five seasons in the 1970s when millions stayed home to watch television.
There we were in 1974, on the sofa, tuned in to CBS for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" followed by "The Bob Newhart Show" followed by Burnett's comedy/variety hour.
We headed for bed with Burnett's theme song in our heads.
"I'm so glad we had this time together "
And now? For the first time in TV history, there are no original-scripted entertainment series on the big three networks on Saturday night.
