Allison Bland's open letter to Bill Cosby (Daily Break, Oct. 17) defending the hip-hop generation shows spunk. And it shows that Dr. Cosby should not think of them all as being reckless, irresponsible and "knuckleheads."
However, I and many black Americans - old and young, poor, middle class and well-to-do - feel that much of what Dr. Cosby said is correct. Some of our black people need to regroup, check themselves out, look to the past and remember what many fought and died for. We need to respect the dream, and keep it alive to strengthen our future.
