People with C3-4 spinal cord injury and others with good head control and movement have several options to use a computer. These systems offer alternative methods to move the pointer around the screen (mouse-emulation devices), together with a way to type on the keyboard ("virtual" keyboards). Virtual keyboard software programs create the image of a keyboard on the computer screen.
If you can move your head one inch, side-to-side and up-and-down, you have enough movement to operate a joystick mounted on a gooseneck. As you move the stick with your mouth, the pointer on the screen moves in the same direction.
