John Dillon, reacting to a twinge of nostalgia on Thursday, took three of his daughters to the playground in Eugene's Skinner Butte Park.
"I haven't been here in years," said Dillon, a 38-year-old, stay-at-home dad. "I thought it would be great to take my girls here because I used to play here as a kid."
Dillon's timing couldn't have been better.
On Saturday, the 37-year-old playground in Skinner Butte Park will be torn down to make way for RiverPlay, Eugene's planned showcase playground. Volunteers are needed to help with the demolition.
