Winter wheat seeded area in Ontario this fall will be little changed from the level achieved a year ago, according to an official with the Ontario Wheat Producer's Marketing Board. Wet weather and a late soybean harvest prevented producers from increasing planted area.

"Ultimately, how much area in Ontario was seeded to winter wheat was dependent on the weather and the soybean harvest," Larry Shapton, general manager for the Board said.

Last fall, roughly 750,000 acres of winter wheat was seeded in the province of Ontario, down from the record 1.0 million acres that was seeded ...
