No viable alternative to life extension program at Paks nuclear plant, says CEO
Paks. November 10. INTERFAX-EUROPE - There is no viable logical, technical or economic alternative to extending by 20 years the life span of the nuclear reactor blocks of the Paks nuclear power plant, CEO Istvan Kocsis said Wednesday at a meeting of parliament's economic committee, held in Paks.
Kocsis said the cost of the life extension program is estimated at HUF 171.9 billion at current prices through 2030, while any other alternative, such as building another nuclear plant or a different kind of power plant to offset the capacity fallout, would cost anywhere from HUF 600 ...
