Article: DVD REVIEWS OF NEW RELEASES FRANKLY, DEAR READER, YOU'LL GIVE A DAMN.(U)

This is a week in which special editions of older films overshadow recent releases.

First, there is the four-disc digitally restored ``Gone With the Wind,'' the 1939 Civil War epic that nearly swept the Oscars. (Clark Gable as the rakish Rhett Butler was shut out, much to his displeasure.)

Having seem ``GWTW'' more times than I can count because I once managed a movie theater where it played in revival, I wasn't keen on seeing it again. But I did watch enough to report that the restored color is quite eye-opening.

And even if you are not a huge fan of ``GWTW,'' the story behind it is ...
