TOKYO, Nov 11 Asia Pulse - Nosan Corp. (TSE:2051) has developed a type of nonallergenic dog food that is made without the use of animal-derived proteins.

Made from 10 kinds of amino acids and potatoes, the dog food will not elicit either type-I or type-IV food allergies. This sets the product apart from other so-called nonallergenic dog foods, which eliminate type-I allergies by breaking proteins into smaller peptide fragments but still can elicit type-IV allergies, which involve reactions to peptides.

Nosan will manufacture the dog food and leave marketing to veterinary medicine company Sankyo Lifetec Co.
