Kevin Roderick acknowledged he opened a journalistic can of worms when his Web log, L.A. Observed.com, accepted an ad from mayoral candidate Robert Hertzberg.
But he also defended the action.
"If you are committing journalism, taking ads is an acceptable way to go," said Roderick. "In no way is it an endorsement of Hertzberg. Before I took the ad I talked to people in journalism and no one had a problem with it."
