Article: Study shows massage therapy popular for pain relief.

2004 NOV 16 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A new consumer survey released by the American Massage Therapy Association said that nearly half those surveyed - 49% - have used massage therapy for pain management.

The study also said that 90% of consumers believe that massage therapy can be effective in reducing pain. Among those who have received massage for pain, massage therapy followed only medication as the form of pain relief. Thirty percent of respondents said medication was first in controlling pain, followed by 21% for massage therapy, 19% for chiropractic measures, and 16% physical therapy.
