If you're not looking carefully, it is easy to miss Christian Louboutin's boutique on Paris' rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau. With the Louvre near one end of the street, and the Paris Bourse near the other, it is not the most likely location for a young shoe designer's store and studio.

"I wasn't looking for a hot shop," said Christian Louboutin, now one of the most talked-about names in luxury women's shoes. He admitted, however, that being next to the Galefie Verot-Dodat passageway -- a neighborhood filled with luxury antique dealers and artisan's stores that "real Pansians" know-- helps.
