De Beers' guilty plea and payment of a $10 million fine to settle charges of anticompetitive behavior and price-fixing may have put an end to the criminal case against the company in the United States. But the finn still confronts an array of civil claims by diamond companies and others who feel they have been hurt by the firm's policies over recent years. A July 14 article in the Wall Street Journal said that the company "still faces four unrelated private civil antitrust suits."
