A town in western Canada planned a monument to American draft dodgers from the Vietnam War. Now it will be located on private land near Nelson, British Columbia. The bronze statue of "a Canadian helping two scared American men" was to be dedicated at the Our Way Home Festival, July 8-9, 2006.
"This will mark the courageous legacy of Vietnam War resisters and the Canadians who helped them resettle in this country during that tumultuous era," said Isaac Romano, festival director.
