At first blush, Marc Forster - the 35-year-old director of Monster's Ball - seems an unlikely choice to direct a movie about J.M. Barrie, the revered author of Peter Pan. Finding Neverland may change your mind. Delicate without being sappy, the film creates the world in which Peter Pan took root in Barrie's fertile imagination. The story was inspired by the author's friendship with the Llewelyn Davies family, a widowed mother and her four young sons. Hardly the hearts-and-flowers type, Forster is quick to point out that the play is darker than the famous animated Disney version or the Mary Martin stage edition. ...
