In a move that sets a pattern for NewChannels' other cable systems, the MSO's 815-mile Troy, N.Y. system will be upgraded to 750-MHz (110 analog channels) in a two-step process beginning this August.
Initially, the 43-channel to 53-channel system will be upgraded to 78 channels (550 MHz). That phase should be complete by the fall of 1993, NewChannels president Leo Calistri said.
By the end of 1994, in a second phase, capacity will be upgraded to the full 110 channels, he said. The $10 million upgrade is part of a $40 million allocation NewChannels Corp. has made to upgrade its Syracuse, Binghamton, Rome, Corning and Carthage, N.Y. systems, said company ...
