The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky convention and visitors bureaus have pledged about a third of their annual budgets to create a regional tourism agency to attract leisure travelers.
The as-yet unnamed agency would have a start-up budget of about $2.1 million, including $1.3 million from the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau and another $900,000 from its counterpart in Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties in Kentucky.
Both bureaus are funded through hotel and motel taxes paid by visitors.
