Plenty of snow and thousands of wooded acres at Winona State Forest combine to make the Tug Hill Plateau a great place to hold classic ski races, according to Jay Chapman.
Chapman, president of the Tug Hill Ski Club, is a 20-year veteran of the annual Tug Hill Tourathon ski races. Featured events are 50-, 25- and 15-kilometer cross-country races, all open to anyone willing to try.
The Tourathon will be held Feb. 5. It has become a family event and a tradition for many cross country skiers over the 25 years, Chapman said.
