The poultry industry has been blamed by some for water-quality problems in northwest Arkansas.
Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale is moving toward its goal of eliminating runoff into rivers and streams by expanding its River Valley By-Products facility in north Logan County.
The facility is located just outside Morrison Bluff, near Scranton.
The multimillion dollar expansion added about 25,000 SF to the plant, which opened in 1987 only yards from the Arkansas River. The $20 million facility takes the inedible parts of almost 600 million chickens annually from 28 Tyson processing plants in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. It then turns those parts into ...
