MONONA -- When it snows or rains in Monona, shoppers going into or out of a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter will have a way to stay dry.
A preliminary plan submitted to Monona officials shows that the 203,000-square-foot store at the Beltline and South Towne Drive would have underground parking.
Another unusual feature is the store's four-front design, with signs and entrances aimed at making the building appear not to have a back or sides, city planner Paul A. Kachelmeier said.
But the real innovation is the parking design, which calls for 196 spaces outside the store and 641 below.
