Nov. 18--A new study of U.S. cities' ability to create jobs and sustain income growth ranks Fort Wayne near the very bottom of the country's 200 largest metropolitan areas.
Of all the cities on the 2004 Best Performing Cities Index, just released by the Milken Institute, Fort Wayne ranks 191st. That's where the Summit City placed in 2003 as well.
Seven of the top 20 metropolitan areas on the 2004 list are in Florida. Indianapolis placed 60th this year, up 41 spots from a year ago. Rockford, Ill., came in last this year, dropping three places from 197.
