Things get pretty jazzy at 9 a.m. each school day at Solvay High School.
That's when the 10 members of the school's Jazz Combo file into the practice room, pick up their saxes, flutes, drums, guitars and trombones, and put together some sweet sounds of America's unique form of music.
But this is much more than a music group. These students - most of whom plan to major in music in college - not only perform with the combo but also have to study music theory, jazz history and performance and learn how to think about how music is created.
