Nov. 18--The homeowners who live along the Bermuda-grass covered fairways of Baymeadows Golf Club in Jacksonville got a rude awakening in August when they learned the golf course would be sold for a development that will build 1,400 homes on the land.
At a tense and often hostile meeting Wednesday night, residents urged City Council members to reject the development, saying it would add more traffic to four-lane Baymeadows Road when there is no plan for solving the road's rush-hour traffic woes by widening to six lanes.
