THE good news in these times when we have been having an overdose of bad news is that agricultural production is up 7.9 percent in the third quarter. This is much higher than the 6.3 percent forecast by NEDA. Considering that farm output makes up a fifth of our gross domestic product, NEDA is thinking of increasing its GDP estimate. However, the continuing price of crude oil and the threat of El Nino, we need to ensure that these gains can be sustained.
