OAKLAND, Calif. _ Santa Clara coach Dick Davey said a lot of people thought he had rocks in his head for agreeing to play No. 4 North Carolina in the Pete Newell Challenge on Friday night. Apparently, those people had rocks mistaken for the bricks the Tar Heels put up against the Broncos.
Santa Clara held North Carolina to 37 percent shooting, including 29 percent in the first half, and the Broncos went on to a stunningly easy 77-66 upset at the Arena in Oakland.
