Nov. 19--The debate is over, but the discussion will go on.
In a strategic planning session Thursday, the board of directors of the Punta Gorda Business and Community Alliance voted 14-1 to become a Chamber of Commerce.
The name change will raise the profile of the organization, allowing it to better fulfill its mission of promoting the growth and development of business in Punta Gorda, the board noted in a statement.
The change had been under consideration for some time, although Alliance President Glenn Larson of AFLAC had said it wasn't a major priority when he took office last month. He had always supported the ...
