But some developers wonder if it can get good tenants
Final agreement on a proposal to renovate Jackson's King Edward Hotel is expected to be announced within two to four weeks. The proposed new title-holder for the project also says he'll be ready to announce names of new tenant in that time period - sure to be a surprise to other downtown developers wondering who would sign a lease for the proposed office space in the long-vacant hotel.
Two factors -- negotiations on a proposal to turn the hotel into Class A office space and lining up tenants -- have delayed construction on the Capitol Street building which has stood empty since 1967.
