Prior to this year, Sturgeon Bay had been to only one other WIAA state championship final. In 1993, the Clippers came up short in the Division 4 football title title game and had to settle for the runner-up trophy.
But rather than put the past behind them, the 2004 Clippers used it as motivation Thursday night against St. Francis.
"We used it (the 1993 ring) as a good-luck charm, and I showed the kids and I said, 'The gold one would look a lot better on your finger than a silver one.' And they all agreed and you see what happened," Sturgeon ...
