A POLICE chief whose speed cameras caught 59 , 000 motorists last year let his chauffeur drive him at nearly 100mph on the M1.
Derbyshire chief constable David Coleman was returning from an engagement in London on Wednesday night when the car was clocked going at 97mph and pulled over by traffic officers.
Mr Coleman was one of the first police chiefs to bring in extra speed cameras under the Safety Camera Partnership. His force uses fixed and mobile cameras.
Three years ago he told critics: 'Safety cameras are all about saving lives and reducing the number of people injured on roads.
