SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) Pacific Rim leaders yesterday kicked off a two-day summit with talks on beefing up global security efforts, solving regional economic problems, and eliminating nuclear threats from North Korea and Iran.
United States President George W. Bush and the other leaders attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit here are expected to sound a ringing endorsement for World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations aimed at slashing subsidies and bringing down trade barriers in a move to boost the global economy.
