The EP Resolution says the Cuban authorities should allow the 2002 Sakharov Prize winner, Oswaldo Paya Sardinas, to appear before the EU institutions. He has written a letter to EP President Josep Borrell urging the EU to stand firm on its common position for as long as the Cuban authorities continue their violations of fundamental rights. The EP is also looking in its Resolution for evidence of significant progress on the island regarding the promotion of democracy and the upholding of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
